From $30K to $500K: How Shifting My Mindset Changed My Business Forever

I still remember the moment I decided to go all in on BrandWell. I was equal parts excited and terrified, but mostly, I was ready. I had done the scrappy DIY thing for a little more than a year and knew that if I wanted to succeed, I had to start taking some risks.

So I quit my full-time job and the comfortable salary that came with it. All while finding out I was pregnant with my first daughter…Suddenly, all of the fears started creeping in:
“Should I have waited?”
“What if this costs me more than what I’m ready to invest?”

If you’ve walked away from the comfort of Corporate America to chase something of your own, then you know the flood of emotions that often follow. But my first year as a full-time CEO pushed me to think differently.

Instead of asking, “What is this going to cost me?”  I started asking, “What could this investment make me?”

And frankly, it’s this mindset that took my business from $30,000 in our first year to over $500,000 in annual revenue five years later.

Thankfully, I surrounded myself with business owners who were one, two, even ten steps ahead of me, and I started to notice a pattern. They weren’t afraid to invest in their growth. They took risks. They thought bigger. I recognized early on that CEOs don’t just look at the upfront cost, they zoom out and focus on long-term growth.

So the next time you're considering investing in your business, instead of asking,  “What will this cost me?” try asking, “What could this make me?”

At some point, we have to stop thinking like side-hustlers and start showing up like the CEOs we’re becoming.

I get on sales calls all the time with women whose only focus is the upfront cost. Their vision is short-sighted — and because of that, they don’t invest, they don’t evolve, and they stay stuck in the cycle of trading time for money, never fully stepping into their potential.

But not all of them! The women who recognize the value of a powerful online presence? They go on to do big things. Doors open. Opportunities multiply. They get invited into rooms they never imagined…all because they think like CEOs.

And when you think like a CEO, you start getting rewarded like one.

If you've been considering investing in a brand or website design this summer but are afraid of the initial investment, I’ll gently challenge you with this:
What could it make you to start showing up confident online?
Think about it.
